Emergency Road Closure of US-191 in Uintah County

UDOT issued an emergency alert on Saturday that US-191 was closed in Uintah County due to road damage. As of Sunday night the roadway was open but reduced to one open lane of alternating traffic at Mile Post 364, about 8 miles north of Vernal.

A USU-Uintah Basin professor is heading south to share his wealth of knowledge. Dr. Alan Blackstock is the first USU Regional Campus faculty member to be named a Fulbright scholar and now has the opportunity to teach in Ecuador for a semester at the University of Cuenca. 

Fatalities in Head On Collision North of Rifle

Names have been released of the two men killed in a head on collision on Tuesday afternoon. The accident occurred on Highway 13, eleven miles north of Rifle. Traffic was delayed for over 6 hours during the investigation and cleanup.

Man Tries Green River on Cheap Tube – Not Recommended!

A 60-year-old Tennessee man thought he’d give the strong river currents a try near Echo Park in Dinosaur National Monument on Tuesday with terrifying results. The tourist, who did not have a rafting permit, decided to hop in the water with a “cheap Walmart inner tube” which was quickly sucked out from under him.

The Uintah County Commission declared next week, May 21st through the 27th, EMS Week. EMS Week got its start back in 1974 when President Gerald Ford declared a week in November to be National Emergency Medical Services Week.
