The Mile Marker 24 Fire east of Meeker is contained. The blaze started after a Controlled Burn of ditches on private land got out of control on Tuesday. On Wednesdaynight, the fire was 80 percent contained.

Crews Battle Wildfire Outside Meeker
Fire season is already underway as multiple agencies battle the Mile Marker 24 Fire twenty miles east of Meeker. On Tuesday, April 18th, at approximately 2:30pm, the Rio Blanco County Sheriff’s Office received a call reporting that a private controlled burn had gotten out of control.
Officers Terminated, Lieutenant Resigns in Daggett County Jail Investigation
The investigation’s initial report from the Utah Department of Corrections has resulted in the termination of two Daggett County Jail employees and the resignation of another. On February 17th, the Utah Department of Corrections removed 80 state inmates from the Daggett County Jail as part of the investigation of alleged misconduct by staff.
