New Medical Director for Uintah County Jail
The Uintah County Commission approved a new medical director for the Uintah County Jail during Monday’s Commission meeting. Two weeks ago the county opened up bids and three bids were submitted.

Utah State Veterinarian Dr. Barry Pittman is urging horse owners to watch for signs of illness in their animals, especially when returning from shows or rodeo events. Eastern Utah is especially urged to be alert as an outbreak of “Strangles” has hit neighboring Western Colorado.
Uintah County Library Awarded CLEF Grant
The Uintah County Library will soon have new computers for public use thanks to a state grant. According to Library Director Sam Passey, the $10,000 dollar grant was awarded by the State of Utah Library Division. It is considered a Community Library Enhancement Fund or CLEF grant.
New Welding Technology Building Funded for Roosevelt UBATC Campus
New infrastructure is destined for the Uintah Basin Applied Technology College campus. State funding was approved for the building of a new welding building on the Roosevelt campus.
Stolen Vehicle in Duchesne County
The Duchesne County Sheriff’s Office is investigating reports of a stolen vehicle in the Bluebell area. According to the Sheriff’s Office, deputies were dispatched early Sunday morning “to reports of a 2006 Beige Ford F350 pickup truck being stolen.”
