Ute Tribe Explores Casino Project in Dinosaur

The Ute Tribe is exploring the possibility of opening a casino in Dinosaur, Colorado. The Grand Junction Sentinel reports that while the idea had been floated around in 2011, the present proposal comes with the idea of the tribe purchasing some federal land to connect reservation land with the proposed project site.

Search for Missing Man Suspended Due to Winter Storm

The search for a man presumed drowned in Flaming Gorge has been suspended due to severe winter weather. The Daggett County Sheriff’s Office was alerted to a suspicious vehicle on the boat ramp at Cedar Springs Marina at 8:30am on Friday, January 20th. Deputies responded and found a truck with a boat trailer backed into the water and the truck running while the boat was loose from the trailer.

Anglers turned out for the pursuit to catch the ugliest fish in the west over the weekend at Flaming Gorge. 201 teams amounting to 653 fishermen participated in the 2017 Burbot Bash hauling in a total of 3,918 fish.

Tragedy struck on Highway 40 Sunday morning. A 2006 tan Impala was traveling eastbound on Highway 40 near the UDOT sheds at mile marker 43 while a 2014 Grey Dodge pickup was eastbound in the same area.

A missing fisherman on Flaming Gorge is presumed drowned as crews continue their search for the man. The Daggett County Sheriff’s Office was alerted to a suspicious vehicle on the boat ramp at Cedar Springs Marina at 8:30am on Friday, January 20th. 

Utah Releases Plan to Address Intergenerational Poverty

The Intergenerational Welfare Reform Commission released a plan Thursday for addressing Utah’s intergenerational poverty. The plan makes recommendations for both rural and urban communities to address areas of well being in early childhood development, education, family economic stability and health.
