Roosevelt has been hopping this month with annual events that always draw a crowd. Last week’s Holly Fair brought thousands to the city for early Christmas shopping and next week locals will throng for another holiday favorite event, the Enchanted Forest.

More Recruits Join Uintah County Sheriff’s Team
Sheriff Vance Norton is taking on more new recruits with very special skill sets. The Sheriff’s Office recently welcomed Arias, their first explosives trained dog. Arias is a dual purpose Belgian Malinois that is training for explosives, apprehension and tracking.
Spring Groundbreaking Planned for Maeser Fire Substation
A spring groundbreaking is planned for the new Maeser fire substation. The substation will be run under the Vernal Department, says Uintah County Fire Marshal Jeremy Raymond, so it will not be considered a new department. The Vernal Department will run it with existing equipment and volunteers.
Western Energy Alliance Applauds Trump Victory
Pro energy development agencies are applauding the Trump victory in the presidential race. Western Energy Alliance was among the first to congratulate President-elect Trump. “Western Energy Alliance is overjoyed that we will not be experiencing a third term of the Obama Administration,” shares Alliance President Tim Wigley.
Missing Calves in Duchesne County
The Duchesne County Sheriff’s Office is asking the public for help in a case of stolen livestock around the Arcadia area. According to the Sheriff’s Office, Arcadia resident Charles Hansen notified their office on October 24th that three calves were missing and possibly stolen.
Hunter Missing Near Meeker Found Alive
A hunter who was reported missing near Meeker over the weekend was found alive. Search crews searched by air and on the ground for 61-year-old David Boelcke from Michigan.
CIB Approves Fund Transfer for Roosevelt City
Roosevelt City continues to improve water infrastructure throughout the City and an approval from the Community Impact Board will help continue that mission.
Education Election Results
The Utah School Board 12 race that covers northeastern Utah was a close one.
County Election Results
With election results in, Basin counties have few surprises. Uintah County was the only county with a Commissioner race. As the Republican candidate, Brad Horrocks secured 79.15 percent of the popular vote over Stephen Borton with 20.85 percent.
State Election Results
Utah’s top leadership will continue following Tuesday’s election results. Governor Gary Herbert secured 66.98 percent of the popular vote, Sean Reyes will continue as Attorney General, John Dougall as State Auditor and David Damschen as State Treasurer.
