Work Continues on Red Wash Road

Improvements have continued on a major connector road for Uintah County. According to Uintah Transportation Special Service District Board Chairman Duane Shepherd, paving is underway on the Red Wash Road project and, weather permitting, will be complete by the end of the month.

Fantastic Year for Uintah Conference Center and Western Park

The Uintah Conference Center and Western Park are experiencing a fantastic year. Facilities Manager Derk Hatch reported to the Uintah County Commission on Monday with statistics for 2016. In the first 11 months of this year, the Uintah Conference Center held 50 conferences that ranged from 40 to over 500 guests.

Interagency Drug Bust in Sweetwater County

An interagency effort led to multiple drug arrests last week in Rock Springs. A search warrant was conducted and undisclosed amounts of methamphetamine and marijuana were located. 39-year-old Lana Rae Vermillion was arrested for felony Delivery of Methamphetamine and Felony Child Endangerment with Methamphetamine, among other charges.

Public Help Sought in Myton Theft Case

The Duchesne County Sheriff’s Office is asking for the public’s help in a case of theft in Myton. The theft was reported last week when Myton resident Odis Fillingim reported items stolen from his tack shed, including two custom saddles.

Record High Voter Turnout

Basin voters turned out in record numbers. According to Uintah County Clerk/Auditor Mike Wilkins, Uintah County voter turnout as of Monday was at 90.49 percent.

Following the election, incidents of bullying and harassment in schools around Utah, including locally, have been enough of an issue that the Governor and state Education Superintendent has issued a statement of concern for student safety.
