Vernal Chamber Awards 2nd Quarter Outstanding Public Service Award

The Vernal Area Chamber of Commerce has awarded Ben Cluff, CEO of Ashley Regional Medical Center, with the 2nd quarter Outstanding Public Service Award. Cluff moved to Vernal in 2013 to assume his post as CEO and in the time since, the hospital has announced $35 million dollars in renovation and expansion.

Holly Days Around the Corner

Decorations for Christmas are going up around the Basin with some of the area’s biggest events of the year just days away. Vernal City crews are working to get the street decorations up early because of the warmer weather, explains council member Bert Clark.

Plans are underway for a local event in conjunction with the upcoming national Law Enforcement Appreciation Day known as L.E.A.D. The 2017 event is being held nationally on January 9th as a way to show law enforcement officers that citizens appreciate their service and sacrifice.

Mountain View High School Stabbing

A 16-year-old boy is in custody after allegedly stabbing 5 of his classmates at Mountain View High School in Orem on Tuesday. The attack reportedly happened in the locker room where he attacked 5 students with a knife before turning it on himself. 

Officer Laid to Rest

Local law enforcement were among many to mourn the death of a young West Valley City police officer last week. 25-year-old Officer Cody Brotherson was laid to rest on Monday, November 14th.
