A local clinician has been recognized on a state level for his service and commitment to public health. Duane Draper is a Physician’s Assistant that practices at the Flaming Gorge Community Health Center in Manila. Draper “has served the individuals of Daggett County tirelessly for nearly a decade. 

Special guests from Uintah County attended the 42nd Annual Golden Key Awards at the state capitol this week including Uintah County Library staff member David Spainhower. 

Key members of Ute Tribe leadership were in Washington, D.C. this week as they continue to oppose Congressman Rob Bishop’s Public Lands Initiative. On Tuesday, Ute Business Committee Chairman Shaun Chapoose spoke at the Ute Tribe press conference outside the U.S. Department of the Interior building.

Unlike in years past, the Uintah County Commission race will have more than one name on the ballot this November. 

A new memorial is standing tall in Moffat County. The statue of a soldier has been placed near the Craig VFW. The memorial will eventually include lighting and flags as well as new landscaping. 

The changing of the seasons means a switch to fall hours at Dinosaur National Monument. According to Chief of Visitor Services Dan Johnson, tourism was up every month over the summer by 3 to 5 percent.
