During Monday’s meeting, Uintah County Commissioners expressed their support of Senator Orrin Hatch’s legislation aimed at common sense adjustments to the Clean Air Act. Commissioner McKee explained that Hatch’s bill aims to reinstate an action program that would give companies credit for efforts that improve air quality.

A dirt road in Duchesne County is a headache for surrounding neighbors sick of dealing with the dust. According to Duchesne County Commissioner Ron Winterton, there is a lot of oil field activity on the road to Lake Canyon and in the past the oil field companies used to provide dust suppression but no longer do.
Uintah School District Awarded Grant Funding
Uintah School District has been awarded a significant grant through legislation sponsored by Senator Kevin Van Tassell. In the 2016 legislative session, Senator Van Tassell sponsored SB 14 which amends provisions related to the state system of public education and the American Indians and Alaskan Natives.
BTA Riders Plead for Continued Service
Locals depending on BTA for transportation are anxiously waiting for more information as local authorities discuss the future of the local busing service. In recent months, Uintah County Commissioners have announced their intention to discontinue funding of BTA and have emphasized the need for funding to reinstate the Wellness Wagon.

The Uintah County Sheriff’s Office is renewing focus on cold cases and is inviting help from the community. Among the cases is the missing person investigation of Rhonda Karren who was last seen on September 26th, 1987 in Vernal.
Death of Rock Springs Man Under Investigation
Investigators are working to determine the cause of death of a Questar employee who was working alone at a job site near Rock Springs on Monday. Deputies and first responders were dispatched to the location around 4:25pm. An ELM Locating employee who was working nearby spotted the man in a hole at the Questar job site and called 9-1-1.
FBI of Utah Urges Utah Residents to Utilize Child ID App
The FBI of Utah is urging all Utah residents to utilize the FBI’s Child ID App with kids back in school and away from caregivers for much of the day.
