KNEU 1250If you’re hoping to search for more than eggs this coming Easter, you’re in luck! The Division of Wildlife Resources is hosting a special event over Easter weekend to view the white, furry animals that live in the steep terrain of the Uinta Mountains.
The harsh winter has taken its toll on the James Bacon Memorial Park, home of the well known “Klondike” Boy Scouts winter camp. Every year, in the coldest part of February, hundreds of scouts head to the park for an intense and cold winter camp.
Local radio station KIFX The Fox has partnered with the Division of Wildlife Resources to incentivize family fishing this summer. The promotion means that over 400 fish will be tagged in Pelican Lake alone while over a hundred more will be tagged in Moose Pond and the lower Stillwater Pier Pond.
An oil spill in the Rangely area is still being cleaned up 10 days later. According to the Rio Blanco County Sheriff’s Office, Chevron Pipe Line Company responded to a crude oil release at a collection station on the Rangely Gathering System on March 5th.

If you didn’t think the Division of Wildlife Resources was serious about the shed antler ban statewide, think again. According to the DWR, many have learned the hard way that if you break Utah’s statewide shed antler gathering ban, you will be cited.
Utah’s 2017 legislative session has concluded with attention given to education among many other items. This year’s session saw increases in education funding with a 4% increase in the WPU and a 6.7% funding increase over last year.
Prescription drug abuse is a growing problem across Utah and the nation. One Salt Lake man has been charged with 5 counts of theft of services in connection with an extensive case of using fake names at medical facilities to obtain prescription medications and Duchesne County was among his many stops across Utah.

A group of talented young musicians are ready to bring the beauty of the arts to the Basin this weekend. The Uintah Basin Youth Chamber Orchestra’s spring concert is being held this Saturday and an impressive program is in store. UBYCO’s co-conductors are each musicians in the Uintah Basin Orchestra and Chorus, the youth orchestra’s parent organization, and each support the youth orchestra as a feeder program into UBOC.
This month’s Utah Field House lecture will include some exciting pre-show events. Author Susan Ewing and researcher Dr. Leif Tapanila are presenting for Thursday’s lecture and will be available beforehand at two signing events for the book Resurrecting the Shark.
