Flaming Gorge Ranger District Prescribed Burn

Prescribed burning is underway in the Flaming Gorge Ranger District. According to Ashley National Forest representative Louis Haynes, burning on Dowd Mountain began on Friday, May 12th, and is expected to treat about 1500 acres of forest when complete.

Families Turn Out For Community Events

From a half marathon to a community art festival, Uintah County was humming with activity over the weekend. Two neighboring events fed off each other in downtown Vernal on Saturday with the Vernal Fire Department’s free community breakfast and the Vern and Al season kickoff party across the street at the Utah Field House.

The talented teens entertained and thrilled the crowd, especially as the car began to float on the stage bringing the audience to their feet.

Oldtimers’ 2017 Aims to “Capture Culture”

A unique event coming up in Meeker is aimed at cultural celebration and preservation. What is being called Oldtimers’ 2017 is taking place on June 3rd and includes the “Capturing Our Culture” event where citizens can come in as families or groups to simply discuss life in the area in order to create oral histories on video.

New Daggett County Sheriff Sworn In

There’s a new Sheriff in town in Daggett County after the Daggett County Commission approved the Republican Committee’s recommendation on Friday. The post had been left empty after Sheriff Jerry Jorgensen submitted his resignation in April in the midst of the Daggett County Jail scandal.
