Derailed Train Cars Result in Massive Explosion and Fire in Rock Springs

A train derailment just outside Rock Springs on Saturday, that resulted in a massive explosion and fire, is under investigation by the Federal Railroad Administration. According to SweetwaterNOW.com, 26 train cars derailed just before 3pm and of those 26 cars, 10 were destroyed as they were carrying ethanol and alcohol which resulted in a massive explosion.

The previous HABs program run by the Department of Environmental Quality and Division of Water Quality was defunded by the Utah Legislature which means that they will no longer be monitoring or sampling waterbodies and there will no longer be website updates.

Vernal PD Shares Name of Victim in June 3rd Shooting

Vernal PD provided a press release on Wednesday sharing the name of the victim in the July 3rd shooting in Vernal. “The victim was identified as 25-year-old Joe Bosquez,” shared Vernal PD, who then offered their condolences to the family and friends of Mr. Bosquez. Bosquez was admitted to the hospital on Wednesday, June 3rd after Central Dispatch received a call for medical personnel to respond to an unknown problem in the area of 250 West and 400 North in downtown Vernal.
