The Roosevelt community and beyond is mourning the loss of a young man who has been identified as the fatal victim in a Carbon County crash over the weekend. The Carbon County Sheriff shares that “deputies from the Carbon County Sheriff’s Office as well as medical personnel from the Carbon County Ambulance were dispatched to a vehicle rollover near Star Point on Saturday, June 13th.

Cases of COVID-19 continue to creep up in the TriCounty Health District. The Wednesday Situational Update on www.tricountyhealth.com shows that the confirmed total of cases in Uintah County increased by 2 from the day before reaching 22 with 10 Recovered.
Vernal’s First ‘Freedom Festival’ Planned for the Fourth of July
Volunteers from the community have joined forces with the Vernal Area Chamber of Commerce, Uintah County Travel and Tourism, Vernal City, Elks Lodge, and Uintah Recreation District for a new patriotic tradition. Members from these groups have formed the Freedom Fest Committee.
Rangely Police Chief Comments on “Vigil for George Floyd” Held Tuesday
The Rangely Police Chief extended thanks to the Rangely Community following a “Vigil for George Floyd” held on Tuesday in Rangely’s Hefley Park. On Monday, the Rangely Police Department issued a press release to the public that they had been in contact with the event’s organizers and had been assured that the event was not a “protest”.
2020 Vernal Excitement Launching Tonight
Vernal Excitement will start with a bang tonight in the Dinosaurland Courtyard in front of the Uintah County Library. As in year’s past, Vernal Excitement takes place on Thursdays starting at 7pm and includes Kids Entrepreneur Market, food trucks, movies at dark, and entertainment.

A unique part of the upcoming Freedom Fest will be the Flags for Freedom Patriotic Field. Hundreds of American flags will be displayed at the Vernal Walking Park from July 1st to July 6th.

Uintah Basin’s social calendar is slowly starting to fill up with fun activities but such events still have unique issues and challenges to help them come into fruition. One such event was the Uintah Basin Medical Center Golf Classic, a fundraiser for Brody’s Fund.
