Law enforcement agencies have warned in recent weeks of a spike in vehicle burglaries. Unfortunately, the trend has not stopped at that. Vehicles have also been stolen. The Duchesne County Sheriff’s Office asked for the public to keep an eye out for a 2013 Silver Ford Explorer that was stolen out of Roosevelt on Thursday.

Duchesne County School District has reported its third case of COVID-19. On Thursday, September10th, Duchesne County School District was notified by TriCounty Health Department that an individual at Centennial Elementary School tested positive.
The Utah Department of Transportation has been working with Vernal City to complete the Vernal Main Street Drainage Improvement Project. The first phase is complete, which saw the installation of a storm drain bypass at 600 west and Main. Phase II will start in which a new storm drain will be installed under Main Street between 500 West and 500 East.
The Uintah School District announced Thursday that beginning Monday, September 14th, breakfast and lunch for all kids, ages 18 and under, will be provided for free. “This free meal program is being offered through a federal waiver that is part of the national response to the COVID-19 pandemic,” shares Uintah School District.
TriCounty Health Department announced on Wednesday the first case of COVID-19 confirmed in Daggett County. According to the TriCounty Health announcement, the patient is a female between the ages of 25 and 44 and her case is believed to be a result of community-acquired transmission.
A collaboration between the Daggett School District, Utah Department of Transportation, Utah Education & Telehealth Network, and Strata Networks has resulted in the completion of an extensive 68-mile fiber-optic project that connects Daggett County schools, health clinics, and communities to their network.
Steinaker State Park is a popular recreation spot but park officials want the public to know that testing is underway of a possible Harmful Algal Bloom. The park started to notice patches of green around the dock area. For now visitors are asked to recreate away from the areas of scum and avoid swimming in the dock area.
Plans involving the Uintah Recreation Center pool will have to be put on hold as the pool is now officially closed. A pool closure for maintenance is done annually but this year’s closure will take a bit longer as the extent of the work needed to make repairs will require nearly a month.
Dinosaur National Monument was among the locations affected by high winds during this week’s storm. The back patio of the Quarry Visitor Center was closed due to loose metal flashing on the exterior of the building and the shuttle between the visitor center and Quarry Exhibit Hall was temporarily suspended.
