Fire Fighters from West Virginia Helping with East Fork Fire
The Uintah Basin is always appreciative of the local firefighters as well as those that travel to help battle wildfires. What might not be known is how far some of these firefighters travel. Our local East Fork Fire has almost 290 firefighters helping contain the blaze.
2020 Uintah County General Election Information
Uintah County is getting the word out as the 2020 General Election approaches. This week Uintah County shared the following: All active registered voters will be mailed a ballot on October 13th. Those wishing to vote must register by October 23rd. This can be done and voter registration information can be checked at vote.utah.gov or by calling the Clerk-Auditor’s Office.
Rio Grande Pacific Leadership 100% Confident in Future of Uinta Basin Railway
The economic future of the Uintah Basin is looking very bright thanks to the prospect of the proposed Uinta Basin Railway. Rio Grande Pacific Senior Vice President Mark Hemphill and 7 County Infrastructure Coalition Executive Director Mike McKee joined Steve Evans for an interview on Newstalk AM920 KVEL and were beyond optimistic about the project and its potential to provide stability to the Uintah Basin economy.
Incident of Mysterious Man With Ignited Device Explained By Police
Things are not always what they seem. Vernal City Police Department utilized social media and asked for the public’s assistance on Monday morning in identifying a man in some security photos. The man is pictured setting something down in a parking lot that then starts on fire. Vernal PD did not offer any context to the photos but asked that anyone able to help identify the man or vehicle to please contact them.
Nine More Days to Fill Out Census
September 30th marks the last day individuals are able to fill out the Census and the public is being reminded that it will have a huge impact on the counties and towns in the Uintah Basin. Roosevelt City highlighted three specific things that the Census data is used for every single day.

Woman Dies in ATV Crash in Uintah County; Driver Impairment Suspected
An ATV accident in Uintah County resulted in a woman’s death early Sunday morning. The Uintah County Sheriff’s Office released the following: A 25 year old Ogden woman died early [Sunday] morning in a side-by-side crash near Iron Springs in Uintah County. Emergency personnel were dispatched to Red Cloud Loop Road near Iron Springs at approximately 1:30 a.m.
