It is estimated that in 2020 there are around 276,480 new cases of invasive breast cancer that will be diagnosed in women. Currently there are more then 3.5 million breast cancer survivors. To help raise awareness of breast cancer in the Uintah Basin, six local survivors have been selected to be featured as part of the “Admire the Survivors” campaign.

New Round of Self Help Housing Projects
The home of your dreams is just some sweat equity away. The Uintah Basin Association of Governments has a program entitled Self Help Housing that involves local families helping each build their homes. Groups are formulated and qualified by UBAOG and USDA/Rural Development, which utilizes a USDA Rural Development Direct Loan for the program participants.
Fall Festival at Old Mill Park
Roosevelt Business Alliance would like to remind everyone that today is the Fall Festival. This family friendly event goes from 3pm to 5pm at the Old Mill Park in Roosevelt. The event features face painting, a fishpond, a photo station and more. A highlight will be the pumpkin decorating contest.
Uintah Recreation Center Lap Pool Now Open
It’s been a month since the Uintah Recreation Center pool was closed for annual maintenance and other repairs. The Rec District announced that the lap pool is now open as of Monday but the repairs on the leisure pool are still underway. They are hoping it will be filled and ready for swimmers on Thursday. For those that have been waiting for swim lessons it is expected that they will begin on Thursday.

High Winds Increase Fire Activity on East Fork Fire
Red Flag conditions continue to increase activity on the East Fork Fire. Ashley National Forest shared on Monday that high winds associated with the Red Flag Warning are literally fueling the flames. “Fire is continuing to progress south towards Stillwater Dam and backing down to the water’s edge,” shared Operations Section Chief Heather McRae on Monday.
