COVID-19 Cases Increasing Daily

TriCounty Health Department has shared concern over the increase in COVID-19 cases and Wednesday’s numbers added a big jump compared to what has been average growth. On October 21st, TriCounty Health Department added 21 cases to the overall COVID-19 positive cases which is a significant jump.

Dinosaur National Monument Moves Specimens to Utah Field House

In a recent news release, Dinosaur National Monument announced that they have moved more then 6000 paleontological, archaeological, historical, and biological specimens. Utah Field House of Natural History State Park Museum received the items through the efforts of fourteen monument staff members, three Geoscientists, five volunteers, and four Utah State employees in this interagency project in July.

Legislation Proposes to Change “Derogatory” Geographic Names

The stamp of approval has been given by a Utah legislative committee to draft a bill that seeks to streamline the federal process for changing geographic names in Utah that contain language derogatory to American Indians. Currently there is not a template or an outline of clear instructions that allows changes to geographic features.

A 22 year-old Myton man was arrested Wednesday afternoon after a tip led law enforcement to a stolen vehicle in Ballard. On Wednesday, law enforcement received a tip that a vehicle stolen last week was parked at a Ballard hotel.

Local Locations for National Drug Take Back Event This Saturday

There has been a large increase in opioid drug misuse in the US since 2000. Utah has been ranked 5th in the nation for overdose deaths, outpacing deaths due to firearms, falls, and motor vehicle crashes. As always, local agencies are participating in the National Drug Take Back Day providing the perfect opportunity to safely dispose of unused pills or patches.
