The 2020 Duchesne County General Election preliminary results on Tuesday night reported an 80.66 percent voter turnout with 8,000 ballots cast out of 9,918 registered voters. In Duchesne County, 773 ballots were cast for Biden for President, 7,016 were cast for Trump.

Investigation Underway of Voters Being Turned Away in Duchesne County
Voting in Duchesne County was thrust into the spotlight on Tuesday after reports surfaced online of an initially unidentified woman turning voters away from the polling location. As reports were shared on media outlets along the Wasatch Front and the identity was still unknown, Duchesne County Clerk/Auditor Joann Evans confirmed to Evans Family Media that the person was NOT a Duchesne County employee or someone from within the Clerk’s Office.
Tentative Budget for Uintah County 2021 is Available for Public Review
In a recent press release, Uintah County has announced the tentative budget for 2021. There are several significant budget highlights. 2020 budgeted expenditures were $74.5 million dollars while the budgeted expenditures for 2021 are set at $48.8 million dollars, a decrease of $25.7 million dollars or 34 percent.

SUV Collides With School Bus in Uintah County
A citation was issued in an accident that involved a school bus in Uintah County on Monday afternoon. According to the press release from the Uintah County Sheriff’s Office, an SUV collided with the school bus after the driver of the SUV failed to stop for a red light at 2000 West 500 North.
Draft EIS and Public Comment Period Open for Proposed Uinta Basin Railway
The proposed Uinta Basin Railway continues to move forward. On Friday, the Surface Transportation Board issued the Draft Environmental Impact Statement for the proposed railway for the public’s review and comment. The public’s window for commenting is 45 days. During that time period there will be six public meetings.
Businesses Encouraged to Apply for Uintah Small Business Grant
The 2nd round of the Uintah Small Business Grants are now open and businesses are encouraged to apply. “The 1st round of the Uintah Small Business Grant funded over 240 different local businesses with over 2.1 million dollars,” shares Uintah County. “Many entities expressed their appreciation and commented how it was the deciding factor to stay open.
Liquor Store Reopens After Week Long Closure
The Utah State Liquor Store in Vernal has reopened after a week-long closure. According to Terry Wood, Director of Communication with the Department of Alcoholic Beverage Control, the Vernal store was closed on October 26th following the results of a positive test for COVID-19 in a store employee.
