Santa’s Community Effort Reports on Amazing 2020 Christmas Season
The numbers are in and not surprisingly, the Rotary Club and their many volunteers accomplished something amazing during the 2020 Christmas season. The Rotary Club shared on Wednesday that “after a little R&R, Santa finally has the full report in on Santa's Community Effort! Through this project, Santa's helpers were able to provide Christmas for 234 families which equaled 676 children!
Roosevelt City Recognizes Veterans Memorial Committee
Roosevelt City took the time during the Roosevelt City Council meeting on Tuesday to recognize the Veterans Memorial Committee for their volunteer service. A Roosevelt City press release detailed that the committee was formed and money was first raised to purchase the 50 flag poles that border the Roosevelt City Cemetery, a project that was dedicated in May of 1996.
Chamber Presentation Provides Update On the Uintah Basin Railroad
Mike McKee, Director of the Seven County Infrastructure Coalition, recently provided an update on the Uintah Basin Railroad during a Vernal Chamber event. McKee reports that the Uintah Basin Railroad Project is on schedule and was recently granted conditional approval based on the completion of the environmental study.
Reminder: Make Room For Snow Plows
Snow is in the forecast and Roosevelt City has provided a timely reminder to community members. “On snowy days, please make sure that you move all vehicles [and] trash cans off the roadways so that our plows can get through,” shares the reminder.
COVID-19 Vaccine Distribution Update
COVID-19 vaccines continue to be distributed in the Uintah Basin and TriCounty Health provided an update on Eagle Country 105.5 KLCY on Tuesday morning. As of Friday, 760 vaccines had been administered through the health department.
Findings of Roosevelt Animal Shelter Investigation; City’s Plan Moving Forward
After a 5-month long investigation, the Uintah County Attorney’s Office has released its findings from the investigation into operations of the Roosevelt City Animal Shelter. The 4-page report’s conclusion stated: “Although the activities of Ms. Stevenson and Furever Buddys Rescue do not appear to violate Utah Code concerning the misuse of public funds, it is apparent that the lax oversight of the Shelter by Roosevelt City has created the current problems.
Ashley Regional Offering New Therapy Aimed at Lessening Severity of COVID-19
Ashley Regional Medical Center announced Tuesday that they are offering a new therapy for treatment of non-hospitalized patients with a mild or moderate case of COVID-19. The hospital is among the first in the Uintah Basin to offer the new monoclonal antibody therapy.

For those that love to get out on Steinaker Reservoir for some ice fishing take note. Fish in the reservoir are being tagged for the upcoming Ice Addiction Tournament Series. Fisheries biologist Natalie Boren has a message for anglers that plan to fish Steinaker this week.
Emergency Homeless Shelter Proposed For Craig
Moffat County has been in discussion over what to do with the homeless problem they face and the need for an emergency winter shelter. The Craig Press reports that Housing First Alliance of Craig has turned to Homeward Bound Grand Valley to present a possible solution to both problems.
