Governor Spencer Cox announced Thursday the opening of eligibility for COVID-19 vaccinations for 65 years and older individuals in Utah. Eligibility for those with underlying health conditions is set for March 1st. The TriCounty Health Department will be moving the Vernal vaccination location from the Vernal TriCounty Health Department office to the Uintah Conference Center starting Tuesday, February 23rd.

Local Counties Move to Moderate COVID-19 Transmission Level (2/18/21 – 2/24/21)
The COVID-19 Transmission Index Levels are finally reflecting the reduction in COVID-19 activity in the TriCounty area. After months of being listed at the High Transmission Level, both Uintah County and Duchesne County have been moved to the Moderate Level and Daggett County remains at the Low Transmission Level.

City of Craig Names Interim Chief of Police
Last week Craig Police Department Chief of Police Jerry DeLong resigned. The city of Craig issued a press release on Wednesday in which City Manager Peter Brixius announced Michael Cochran as the City’s interim police chief. His estimated start date is in approximately 2 weeks as former Police Chief Delong’s last day will be March 1st.
