While there are many places in the Uintah Basin to get tested for COVID-19, TriCounty Health Department has announced a change to their testing availability. TriCounty Health used to be available for testing prior to traveling but that is no longer available.

Ute Tribe Enters Historic Agreement to Create Tribal Historic Preservation Office
The Ute Indian Tribe of the Uintah and Ouray Reservation announced Thursday that they have entered into a historic agreement with the National Park Service and the U.S. Department of the Interior to establish a Tribal Historic Preservation Office for the benefit of the Tribe and its members.
Duchesne County Reporting Highest COVID-19 Case Rate in State
Local health and government officials are pleading with the public, particularly in Duchesne County, to take immediate action to stop the spread of COVID-19 as the area experiences a surge of hospitalizations. Duchesne County is currently reporting the highest COVID-19 case rate in the state of Utah and residents are asked to wear masks in public and please stay home if sick.
National Defense Authorization Act a Benefit to Utah Defense Community

COVID-19 Transmission Index and Clarification (9/2-9/8)
Once again the COVID-19 Transmission Index reports Duchesne County and Uintah County at the High Transmission Index Level and Daggett County at the Low Level, leaving some community members confused by how the levels are calculated.
DWR Kokanee Salmon Event in Daggett County
A favorite Division of Wildlife Resources event that takes place each year in Daggett County is nearly here. The DWR shared in a press release that in September and October, kokanee salmon — which are a shade of silver most of the year — change to a bright red before they travel up rivers and streams to spawn.
Support in Uintah Basin For Family Of Utah Marine Killed in Afghanistan
It’s impossible to know what the families of soldiers lost in Afghanistan are experiencing but that isn’t stopping community members from wanting to show their condolences and support. Staff Sgt. Taylor Hoover was one of the Marines killed outside the Kabul airport on August 26th. His father, Darin Hoover, is a deputy with the Daggett County Sheriff’s Office.
Naples City Fills City Manager and Administrative Assistant Positions
There’s been a lot of change in Naples City administration but things are finally settling into place with new recruits hired. Mayor Dean Baker provided the update on how things are landing. Naples City has hired Mike Davis as the new City Manager replacing Joshua Bake who accepted a position as the Roosevelt City Manager.
