The redistricting of Utah will certainly have an effect on lives in the Uintah Basin and those boundaries are now in the hands of the Utah Legislature. On Monday, the Utah Independent Redistricting Commission presented their recommendations at the Utah State Capitol Building.
PBS Kids Utah isn’t going to leave the Uintah Basin out of their fun thanks to the Uintah County Library. PBS Kids Utah awarded the library a mini-grant to be used for a Reading Marathon event coming up this month. Uintah County Library announced details of the marathon on Monday, sharing that the event will take place Friday, November 12th from 11am to 3pm.

Vernal Police Department shared that on Saturday, October 30th, at approximately 8:00am, a 66 year old adult male was struck by a vehicle in the crosswalk at 500 West Main Street in Vernal.
Condolences are being widely shared on social media after the sudden passing of the Naples City Police Chief. 47-year-old Andrew Cox passed away unexpectedly at his home in Uintah County on October 30th due to a fatal medical incident. The loss is widely felt among friends and family as well as in the law enforcement community where he served for over 20 years.
The schedule at Uintah High School has been a topic of conversation in the community for several years and the school board will be considering a potential change at their upcoming board meeting.
Northeastern Utah is among the areas of the state where pheasants are being released ahead of youth and general hunts. The statewide youth pheasant hunt started on Saturday and runs through November 4th. The general pheasant hunting season will run from November 6th to December 5th.
Uintah High School students shined at a national competition last week including a top 10 ranking in the nation. The Uintah FFA team traveled to Indianapolis for their national competition this last week with excellent results. Jimmy McGuire and Aysha Slaugh placed silver as individuals.
It’s the eve of Election Day and time to make your vote count. In person voting at the Uintah County building will take place on Election Day, November 2nd. Ballot drop boxes are available outside the Uintah County Library or Uintah County building.
