New businesses have really helped downtown Vernal blossom and one has added an element of fun that the community has embraced. Brian and Katie Abrams, owners of Dinoland Bowl, were presented with the Beautification Award from the Vernal Chamber Public Relations Committee last week.
Due to the current levels of COVID-19 transmission within the community, Ashley Regional Medical Center is reminding the community that there is a limited visitor policy and mask requirement in the hospital. The current policy is that one (1) well visitor is allowed per patient.
The Department of Workforce Services has released the latest data on employment. Employment increased by 3.7 percent over the last 2 years with the state’s economy adding 59,200 jobs in that time. Counties in northeastern Utah also saw an increase over the last 2 years though not by as much.
With so many great water bodies in the Uintah Basin, ice fishing is a popular wintertime destination. Tonja Kieffer-Selby, DWR Conservation Outreach Manager shares that safety on the ice is a priority. Ice that is 4 to 5 inches thick is considered safe to fish on. Ice that is under 4 inches is unsafe.
Vernal City Council has appointed a replacement for the vacant council seat. The seat was left vacant with the resignation of Travis Allan due to his move outside of Vernal City limits.
The fugitive who was apprehended on Tuesday in Uintah County has a hearing scheduled in 8th District Court on his original charges. Robbie Trujillo was arrested in August on drug related charges as well as failure to stop or respond at the command of a police officer.
A landmark settlement has been reached on Tri-State Generation’s 2020 Electric Resource Plan and part of that settlement will include a process to assist Craig and Moffat County in the transition from coal.
The Vernal Youth City Council toured the State Capital on Wednesday and learned about the workings of the State legislature during meetings with state representatives as part of Local Officials Day.
Vernal Theatre: LIVE is providing just the right dose of comedic relief for the January blues with their run of ‘The Importance of Being Earnest’. A key member of the team making this production a success is Director Myndee Hanberg who is a seasoned veteran of the comedy game.
The Uintah School District has made some major changes in the way it plans to manage COVID-19 in the schools moving forward. First, the option for in-person learning on Fridays is suspended for the next 6 Fridays. Students will be required to attend classes online on Fridays instead.
