The Uintah County Republican Convention was held on Tuesday evening. For Uintah County Commission Seat A, delegates voted for John Larsen to be the Republican nominee for the 2022 election with 130 votes. Incumbent Commissioner Bart Haslem received 39 votes.

Uintah High TAP Students Teach Gifted and Talented Students

Last month, students from Uintah High School got some great hands-on experience in their hopeful profession. The students in Mrs. Janalee Watkins’ Teaching as a Profession (TAP) program taught their first class to the students in the District’s Gifted and Talented program. The TAP program is designed to introduce students to the role and positive influence of effective educators.

Utah Department of Natural Resources Talks Bear Safety

Black bears, Ursus americanus, are currently the only bear species in Utah and are known residents within northeastern Utah. The Utah Department of Natural Resources has a timely message to share about bear safety. Since bears eat almost anything, there is a high probability to have an encounter with a bear when outdoors with food.

The historic Zions Bank in downtown Vernal has undergone a major transformation but that is not the end of the makeover taking place on that block. Vernal’s downtown revitalization efforts include a list of projects and the first public project that will soon be under construction is within what is being called the Zions Bank block.
