New Vernal Area Chamber Of Commerce Director Announced

The Vernal Area Chamber of Commerce has appointed a new Executive Director. Larry Moon is a Vernal native that enjoyed a 25 year career at Halliburton before accepting the position as the Vernal Chamber Director. The previous director, Joel Brown, resigned from the position in October to pursue new opportunities after having served as the Vernal Area Chamber of Commerce Executive Director since 2015.

Rep. Blake Moore Has ‘Fought Hard’ For Uinta Basin Railway

The Uinta Basin Railway received final approval from the federal Surface Transportation Board and Representative Blake Moore made it clear he is happy about the decision. “I am thrilled that the Surface Transportation Board has given their stamp of approval for this crucial project, which will bring tremendous economic opportunities to the Basin, the Ute Tribe, and the entire state of Utah,” shared Moore.

DWS Updated Employment Report

The Department of Workforce Services reports the nonfarm payroll employment for November increased by 3.6 percent over the last 2 years and the state’s economy added 57,900 jobs to the state's economy. The November employment by county registered at approximately 421 employed in Daggett County, 8,332 in Duchesne County, and 12,835 in Uintah County.

The Vernal Regional Airport is among a handful of airports in Utah that will receive funds through the Airport Infrastructure portion of the Bipartisan Infrastructure Law. Simply put this law is providing $15 billion dollars in funding for airport-related projects.

Moffat County High School Reopens After Plumbing Issues

Plumbing issues might not be the preferred reason to have school canceled but it’s doubtful the students of Moffat County High School were complaining. The Moffat County School District announced on Wednesday that due to a continued plumbing issue at the high school, the school would be completely shut down on Thursday.
