2021 Mayor’s Walk Report Presented At Vernal Chamber Luncheon

Changing the venue of a long standing community event can be a gamble but in the case of the annual Halloween Mayor’s Walk in Vernal, the gamble paid off. Vernal City Manager Quinn Bennion presented on the event during the Vernal Chamber Luncheon last week, explaining that the event originated in 1994 as a Trunk or Treat in the Davis Food & Drug parking lot that included a walk with the Mayor to Independence Park and back.

BLM Considering Updates To Sage-Grouse Conservation Plans

The Bureau of Land Management is considering updates to the sage-grouse management plans that were adopted 6 years ago. In 2015, the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service determined that protecting the greater sage-grouse under the Endangered Species Act was not warranted.

Utah Employment Update

Utah’s nonfarm payroll employment increased an estimated 3.7% across the past 24 months, with the state’s economy adding a cumulative 58,500 jobs since October 2019.

Congressman Blake Moore had a lot to say following his vote against the reconciliation spending package on Friday. “As soon as the Senate became a 50/50 split, Democrats committed to trying to spend as much money as possible by abusing the budget reconciliation process,” stated Moore.

COVID-19 Transmission Index and Update (11/18-11/24)

As of Thursday, November 18th, TriCounty Health Department reported 8,749 total COVID-19 cases in the tri-county area to date, an increase of 14 new cases from the day before. There have been 6 new COVID-19 related deaths in the last 7 days and 12 new COVID-19 related hospitalizations.
