Disabled Outdoorsmen Utah, or DO Utah for short, offers events that are inclusive for people with disabilities. Uintah County Commission Does Not Pass Resolution Opposing BLM Nomination
A growing number of Counties in Utah have passed a Resolution opposing President Biden’s nominee for Director of the BLM and while the Uintah County Commission considered the Resolution, it did not pass it. During Monday’s Uintah County Commission meeting, portions of the proposed Resolution, endorsed by the Utah Association of County Commissioners and Councils, was read out loud.
New Native Snail Species Discovered in Uintah County
A new native snail species has been discovered in Uintah County. The species, called the zoogenetes harpa snail or boreal top snail, was first discovered in Dry Fork Canyon in the Uinta Mountains on April 21st. It was then found in Big Brush Creek Canyon on May 20th with 8 live snails found to date.
Wanted Individual In Custody Following High Speed Chase
Rangely Police Department announced Wednesday that the wanted individual they were pursuing has been brought into police custody. On August 11th, the suspect, Paul Max Carabajal, was taken into custody after a high speed pursuit, starting early Wednesday morning, just outside of Rangely, and ending in the CR 98 area.
Utah Wildfire and Smoke Update From DNR
Kayli Yardley with the DNR provided an update this week on the 2021 wildfire season. Last week there were 32 new wildfires in Utah. As of Wednesday, there have been 881 total wildfires in Utah’s 2021 season. That’s a total of 60,369 acres burned.
Closures For Sheep Creek Bay Road, Parking Lot, Campground and Boat Ramp
Ashley National Forest is letting the public know about some closures. Sheep Creek Bay Road, the boat ramp, parking lot, and campground will close on August 23rd through the end of September. The closure is necessary to reconstruct the road and parking lot.
Rangely Police Urge Public To Stay On The Lookout For Wanted Man
**UPDATE on 8/11: Wanted individual is in police custody**
Rangely Police Department has asked the public to be on the lookout for a wanted man. Paul Max Carabajal is “Wanted in relation to a serious assault.”
Local COVID-19 Hospitalizations On The Rise
TriCounty Health Director Kirk Benge visited the KLCY studio this week for this week’s Give’m Health segment. Unfortunately, COVID-19 related hospitalizations have continued to increase and just recently hit a new high with 16 people in the hospital on a single day due to COVID-19.
