Roosevelt Man Dies in Tragic Accident in Provo Canyon

A tragic accident resulted in the death of a Roosevelt man on Saturday in Provo Canyon. The Utah County Sheriff’s Office issued a press release on Sunday sharing that on July 17th, shortly after 7:00pm, Deputies with the Utah County Sheriff's Office were dispatched to a report of a man and a nine year old boy missing near Bridal Veil Falls in Provo Canyon.

East Weaver Fire 100 Percent Contained

Crews will continue to monitor a fire on the Uintah and Ouray Indian Reservation that reached 100 percent containment on Saturday. According to the Uintah and Ouray Wildland Fire program, the East Weaver Fire was called in on Thursday, located in the Hill Creek area southeast of Weaver Reservoir.

Drought Affecting Boating Season as Boat Ramps Continue Closing

More and more boat ramps around the state are being closed down due to low water levels thanks to the drought. State Parks is keeping their website up to date of which parks have ramps closing and while the Uintah Basin locations remain open, it is anticipated it is just a matter of time before they too are closed.

TriCounty Health Hosting Back To School Vaccine Clinics

Kids you may want to cover your ears but the reality is Back To School planning and events are underway. Like every year, TriCounty Health Department is hosting Back To School vaccine clinics around the Basin. Kindergarten and 7th grade students need boosters for school. The vaccines available include Varicella, HPV, Dtap, Hep A, Polio, Hep B, and MMR.

Citizens of the Uintah Basin that enjoy the treat of seeing a river otter are asked to report the experience to biologists with the Department of Wildlife Resources. The DWR shares that in 1899, the Utah State Fish and Game Commission classified the otter as a rare species, and the state legislature protected them from harvest that same year.
