Fireworks Show by Ashley Acres Blows Community Members Away
There was no shortage of patriotic celebrations in the Uintah Basin over the weekend but one event is getting some extra attention on social media. The fireworks show by Ashley Acres Lights & Pyro, as part of the Freedom Festival in Vernal, figuratively as well as quite literally blew everyone away but was it really a grander show?
Fatal Crash on Highway 40 Near Strawberry Reservoir on Sunday
Utah Highway Patrol reports that on July 4th at approximately 3:57pm troopers responded to reports of a two car accident at the intersection of Highway 40 and Strawberry River Road. A Toyota Highlander attempted a left hand turn onto Highway 40 Westbound from Strawberry River Road.
Snake John Fire 100% Contained Over Weekend
Fourth of July weekend was filled with celebrations and fireworks and gratefully only one wildfire near Vernal. The wildfire that was named the Snake John Fire was burning Southeast of Vernal on Friday evening. It was estimated to be 20 acres and was threatening nearby oil and gas sources.
DWR: New Laws To Know Include ‘Child Support Hunting/Fishing License Law’
The Division of Wildlife Resources is getting the word out on two laws passed in the Utah legislative session that will soon have impacts on some hunters and anglers. First is HB295 that went into effect on May 5th. “This law restricts the baiting of big game animals (like deer and elk) when hunting in Utah.
Trailer Explosion at ‘Glazed and Grilled’ in Vernal
There were no injuries in a trailer explosion outside a restaurant on Highway 40 in Vernal early Friday morning.

Suspect At Large After Shooting at Semi
A suspect is at large after an attempted shooting that allegedly took place on the morning of June 28th. Gephardt Daily shared that Utah Highway Patrol reports that “at about 5 a.m., a red semi was traveling eastbound on US-40 at mile post 48 near Strawberry Reservoir.
4th of July Weekend Celebrations in Uintah County
The Uintah Basin will be letting freedom ring through several different 4th of July celebrations and activities. The Field of Flags will be at Freestone Walking Park in Vernal until Monday July 5th. Friday July 2nd will see an Independence Day Block Party on Main Street in Vernal with music by Little Texas from 7pm to 10pm. Tickets are just $10 dollars.
