The Bureau of Land Management has issued the following order: Stage 1 Fire Restrictions will go into effect Friday, June 18th, 2021, on all Bureau of Land Management administered lands in Carbon, Daggett, Duchesne, Emery, and Uintah counties due the ongoing potential for catastrophic wildfires.

Bear Fire Update
According to the Sunday report, the Bear Fire has been mapped at 10,526 acres and is approximately 10% contained. Crews made good progress on Saturday on the western side of the fire, putting a dozer line down Ford Ridge.
Daggett County Search and Rescue Assist Injured Mountain Biker
A man seriously injured in Daggett County while mountain biking was transported to the hospital thanks to some expert help. According to the Daggett County Sheriff’s Office, Dispatch received a call where it was reported that two men were mountain biking in the area just north of Skull Creek Campground when one of the men fell from his bike and could not get up.
Over 500 Entries in Uintah Basin Jr. Livestock Show Over Weekend
The Uintah Basin Jr. Livestock Show was a great success over the weekend, with over 500 entries. Randan Vincent, President of the Jr. Livestock Show committee says it was a great week for all involved. “This year we brought back the breeding show with great support in all 4 divisions,” shares Vincent.
TriCounty Health Announce Spike in Local COVID-19 Cases
TriCounty Health Department announced in a press release Friday: The tri-county area is experiencing a rise in COVID-19 positive cases, having had 83 new cases between June 6th and June 11th. This increase is significant when compared to previous weeks.

Vernal Camper Fire Spreads to Home/Surrounding Property
Thursday was a devastating day for a Vernal family who lost their home and additional property to a fire. According to Uintah County Fire Marshal Jeremy Raymond, a structure fire located at 500 West 1410 North in Vernal was called in at 4:41pm.
High Winds Grounded Aircraft Fighting Bear Fire
According to the Thursday morning report, the Bear Fire, located about 4 miles northwest of Helper, has burned 5,479 acres based on an infrared flight conducted at about 1:30am Thursday. The lightning-caused fire started Tuesday, June 8th, near mile marker 228 on US-6.
Percent of COVID Vaccines Administered and Transmission Index (6/10 – 6/16)
TriCounty Health provided a breakdown on Thursday of the percentage of individuals by age group in the tri-county area that have been vaccinated for COVID-19. The percentage of vaccination for those 80 and older is 77.5%, those 70 to 79 is 74%, those 60 to 69 is 59%, those 50 to 59 is 45%, those 40 to 49 is 34%, those 30 to 39 is 22%, those 19 to 29 is 23%, and those 12 to 18 is 13%.
