Snowy Weather Thanked for Achieving 100 % Containment on County Road 8 Fire
The County Road 8 Fire located 8 miles southeast of Meeker, Colorado is now 100 percent contained. The fire started on April 11th when an agriculture burn grew out of control. Crews were able to keep the fire to 890 acres. The snow fall and colder days this week have been credited with the ability to get the fire fully contained.
Ute Indian Tribe Business Committee Meets with Secretary Deb Haaland
The Ute Indian Tribe issued the following press release on Tuesday: On Wednesday, April 7th, the Ute Indian Tribe Business Committee met with Department of the Interior Secretary Deb Haaland at the Bears Ears National Monument to discuss restoration of the monument and other pressing issues.
Vernal Chamber Luncheon Includes Legislative Review
This week’s Vernal Chamber luncheon included a legislative review with Senator Ron Winterton and Representative Scott Chew. Representative Chew noted that vehicle registration renewal post cards could be starting back up in May thanks to the passing of HB 170.

The Uintah Basin is very proud to be the area that can claim Dinosaur National Monument as its own. Visits to its many attractions are practically family traditions. It is important to note that the Monument is currently managing capacity inside the Quarry Exhibit Hall based on federal public health guidelines.
Mac Attack Derby Coming Up On Flaming Gorge Reservoir
A fishing tournament on Flaming Gorge that had to be cancelled last year is back on for 2021. An announcement from the Division of Wildlife Resources shares that the Mac Attack Derby was created in 2019 as a collaboration between the Utah Division of Wildlife Resources, the Wyoming Game and Fish Department and the Flaming Gorge Chamber of Commerce to focus on the restoration of the trophy fishery at Flaming Gorge Reservoir.
Utah Department of Health Warns of Fraud
The Utah Department of Health has recently shared concerning a new fraud. Apparently there have been individuals producing and presenting mask exemption cards that have the state of Utah seal on them. These fakes have been circulated to businesses and schools.
Duchesne County Announces Spring Burning Closed Until Further Notice
The Duchesne County Commission and the county’s fire and emergency management director announced Monday that spring burning has been closed until further notice due to dry fuel conditions and high winds. According to the press release from Duchesne County, the early fire season, including a 2,700-acre wildfire in the east Myton area, as well as several other wildfires in Duchesne County, have had local Fire Departments and First responders very busy.
TriCounty Health Pauses Distribution of Johnson & Johnson COVID-19 Vaccine
TriCounty Health Department announced on Tuesday that distribution of the Janssen COVID-19 vaccine from Johnson & Johnson is on pause until further notice. TriCounty Health issued a press release on Tuesday sharing that the pause in distribution is a recommendation out of an abundance of caution and, in response, TriCounty Health is erring on the side of caution as FDA and CDC investigations take place.
Rio Blanco County Road 8 Fire
Crews continue work on the County Road 8 Fire southeast of Meeker in Colorado’s Rio Blanco County that started as an agricultural burn on Sunday that quickly grew out of control. According to the Rio Blanco County Sheriff’s Office, the fire was called in on April 11th at 1:06 pm located near mile marker 8 on County Road 8.
