Jury Finds Michael Tuinman ‘Not Guilty’ in 2018 Death

A jury found a Duchesne County man ‘Not Guilty’ of Murder and Aggravated Assault in 8th District Court on Wednesday in a case of assault that resulted in the 2018 death of Sherry Lynn Melo. Michael Wallace Tuinman was a member of a group charged in the April 6th, 2018 assault and consequent death.

UDOT Resumes Vernal Main Street Drainage Improvement Project

Work has resumed on the UDOT Main Street Drainage Improvement Project on Highway 40 in Vernal. According to an update from the Utah Department of Transportation, crews are finishing work in Section 1 from 400 West to Vernal Avenue and will be working in Section 2 and 3 as well.

Utah DWR Warns of Bird Salmonella Outbreak Throughout West

In a press release, the Utah Division of Wildlife Resources warns that there has been a salmonella outbreak that has caused the death of numerous songbirds. Salmonellosis is a bacterial disease that is transmitted through direct contact and is commonly spread when birds ingest feed contaminated with infected feces.

TriCounty Health Officer Update on COVID-19 Vaccinations

TriCounty Health Officer Kirk Benge caught up with Amy in the Eagle Country 105.5 FM studio this week with an update on COVID-19 vaccination efforts. “We are cruising along. We’ve been getting increased doses each week,” shares Benge. Since moving to larger locations for vaccine sites, TriCounty Health is distributing 400 to 500 vaccines a day now and that is in addition to the other partners like Walmart and Smiths.

SB176, Mineral Lease Funds Amendments, modifies provisions related to the expenditure of federal mineral lease revenues, addressing the legislative intent and purpose of the Community Impact Fund and allows their Board to make a grant or loan regardless of whether the project results in more than one impact or outcome.
