Vernal City Utility Rates Increase Due to Increase in Operational Costs
Vernal City utility rates are increasing due to an increase in operational costs passed on to the City. During their regular city council meeting held on February 17th, the council voted to approve a total increase of $3.06 for residential users per month. That amount breaks down to a $2.00 increase for water, $1.00 increase for sewer, and 6 cent increase for garbage.

UBAOG Encourage Businesses to Apply for CDBG COVID Relief Grants
The Uintah Basin Association of Governments wants to help more local businesses strained by the COVID-19 pandemic through the Community Development Block Grant. Grants will be between $5,000 and $10,000 and can be used toward rent and utilities, payroll, outstanding debt, other immediate operational costs, and cleaning and disinfecting.

The Ute Tribe is making sure their voice is heard concerning water rights as the Utah Legislature considers House Bill 297, ‘Colorado River Amendments’. The bill’s description states that it “addresses Utah’s management of Utah’s Colorado River system interests.”
‘Vernal Parents For Education’ Want Uintah Schools Switched to Semester Block
Change can be hard but a group of local parents believe the challenge of change would be worth it in the form of student benefits if Uintah School District changed from a Trimester schedule to a Semester Block schedule. The group created a website called www.VernalParentsForEducation.com and a Vernal Parents For Education Facebook group where they have shared their reasons for the proposed changes.
