Cornhole fever is taking place all over the Uintah Basin and now Roosevelt City will be kicking off their own league. The Roosevelt Cornhole League will be starting on Thursday, February 25th. The league will meet on Thursdays and will continue until April 29th at the Grace Center.

Uintah Cattlemen Association Shares Support for HB 166 Livestock Amendments
The Uintah Basin Cattlemen have added their support for HB 166 which “addresses the treatment and theft of livestock, including livestock guardian dogs and livestock infrastructure.” If HB 166 is passed, a person who shoots or steals a farmer’s livestock could lose their hunting privileges among other penalties.
Uinta Mountains Avalanche Danger Upgraded to Extreme
Avalanche danger in the Uinta Mountains has been upgraded to Extreme! Please be safe if you are spending time in Utah's backcountry. Anybody going into or near the mountains today should avoid being near or under any steep slope; this includes activities like skiing, snowshoeing, running, sledding, or dog walking.
UBTech Vice President Retires
After nearly ten years at UBTech, Tammy Wilkerson is retiring. Tammy started at UBTech in 2013 as the Human Resource Director, later transitioned to Associate Vice President of Instruction and then to her current role as Vice President of Instructional Services. “This is a difficult announcement to make,” shares UBTech President Aaron K. UBH Has New Mammogram Recommendations with COVID-19 Vaccine
Uintah Basin Healthcare announced through a press release that the facility has new mammogram recommendations for women who have had or plan to receive the COVID-19 vaccine. These recommendations are in alignment with new national guidelines.
Resolution Aimed at Retiring Native American Mascots in Utah Schools Fails
An effort in the Utah Legislature to retire Native American mascots in Utah’s K-12 schools failed to pass. House Concurrent Resolution 3 is sponsored by Representative Elizabeth Weight and lists Senator Ron Winterton as the Floor Sponsor.

Uintah Basin Healthcare Vaccination Event This Wednesday
Uintah Basin Healthcare has announced that they have received another limited shipment of the Moderna COVID-19 vaccine to assist TriCounty Health in vaccinating those age 70 and older in our community. The vaccination event will be held Wednesday, February 17th from 8:00 AM to noon at Uintah Basin Medical Center.
Roosevelt City Ice Rink Closed for the Season
The ice skating rink at Constitution Park is officially closed for the season. The rink opened on January 15th after a few hiccups but with huge community support. The donations from STRATA, L&L Motor, the Roosevelt Arts, Parks, and Recreation Committee, support from the community, and the efforts of city employees brought this exciting activity to the public and it has quickly become a favorite.
