Artists Behind Local Murals Recognized by Vernal Chamber

Murals continue to go up around Vernal and the artists behind most of them were recently recognized by the Vernal Chamber of Commerce. Ninty1(91) Designs was awarded the Business of the Month by the Public Relations Committee. Ninty1 Designs is owned by Jordan Clark, a Vernal native whose love of art grew into a passion for mural painting.

CPW Approve Plan to Reintroduce Wolves in Colorado by 10-1 Vote

The Colorado Parks and Wildlife Commission issued a press release concerning plans moving forward with the introduction of wolves to Colorado. During a virtual meeting on January 14th, they provided CPW staff with direction to begin creating a robust, adaptive management plan to reintroduce wolves in Colorado with a 10-1 majority vote.

Roosevelt City Celebrates the Grand Opening of the Ice Rink

The ice rink at Constitution Park delayed its opening because the water initially didn’t freeze in the anticipated timeline. The Roosevelt City crew took the extra time to fix cracked areas and prepare it for an opening just a week later. Roosevelt City shared that they “worked tirelessly to prep the ice, fill in holes caused by air bubbles, and create the smoothest possible surface for skating.”

Moffat County Businesses Hope For Help With 5-Star Program State Certification Program

Colorado is finally providing options to hopefully help businesses open up more. The 5-Star Program State Certification Program could help our western Colorado neighbors save their businesses and get back to some semblance of everyday life. According to the Craig Press the “5-Star Program allows businesses to operate at a level above where the county is on the COVID-19 dial.

National Guardsman Rescue at Duchesne County

Earlier this month two Utah Air National Guard members received state awards, one dealing with an incident in Duchesne County. In two separate events the men were credited with saving lives while off-duty. On August 28th, Airman 1st Class Jensen Martinez was at the Duchesne County’s Starvation Reservoir with his father when they noticed two people struggling in the water.

Uintah Basin Healthcare Announces Additional Rapid Antigen Testing Sites

Uintah Basin Healthcare is adding to the list of new rapid antigen testing sites. In partnership with TestUtah, Uintah Basin Healthcare will have free COVID rapid antigen tests at their Vernal and Roosevelt locations. The Vernal drive-thru testing site will be open at the Vernal Urgent Care from Monday through Thursday from 9am to 6pm and Friday from 9am to 4pm.

Vaccine Appointments Now Being Scheduled for Adults 70 Years and Older

Appointments are now being made for adults 70-years-old and older in the Uintah Basin that would like to receive the COVID-19 vaccination. According to a TriCounty press release, the nurses with TriCounty Health are working tirelessly to vaccinate educators and are looking forward to helping the older population.

Daggett County Creating Service District/Elected Officials Sworn In

It's onward and upward in Daggett County. Public officials were sworn in, each to 4-year-terms, including Commissioner Matt Tippets, Commissioner Randy Asay, Clerk Brian Raymond, Recorder/Treasurer Brianne Carter, and Assessor Lesa Asay. County Attorney Niel Lund was unable to attend the ceremony and was sworn in virtually.
