Child Dead and Woman Seriously Injured in Uintah County Shooting

The Uintah County Sheriff’s Office issued a press release concerning a shooting in Uintah County that left a 3-year-old dead and a woman seriously injured on Monday. On December 14th, at 2:25 p.m. sheriff's deputies were dispatched to a report of a shooting in the area of Fantasy Canyon in central Uintah County.

Teen Passenger Dead Following Moffat County DUI Crash

A 20-year-old Moffat County man has been charged after crashing his vehicle early Sunday morning while impaired. Dillon Burch was at the wheel of a Dodge Ram at 2:30am traveling on Moffat County Road 31 when the accident occurred. Colorado State Patrol reports that alcohol and speed are both considered contributors to the crash.

TriCounty Health COVID-19 Situational Update

TriCounty Health reported Monday that total COVID-19 confirmed positive cases in the tri-county area is 1,946, an increase of 90 since Friday, December 11th. There has been 12 deaths from COVID-19 to date locally and 113 hospitalizations. Total active cases in the tri-county area is 621.

There is Christmas cheer to be found throughout the Uintah Basin in the form of holiday light displays and shows. In the Vernal area there are at least 9 homes with special light shows that are synced to music that can be tuned in on your car radio.

Dates for Burbot Bash 2021 Fishing Contest Announced

Against the odds, an annual Flaming Gorge fishing contest has received official dates. The 2021 Burbot Bash has set the competition for January 29th through the 31st. There are, of course, necessary changes made due to COVID-19 precautions.

Dinosaur National Monument has Changed Hours

Dinosaur National Monument has changed to their winter hours. The Quarry Visitor Center and Quarry Exhibit Hall will be open Wednesday and Thursday from 10:00 am to 2:00 pm, and Friday through Tuesday from 10:00 am to 4:00 pm. Both buildings will be closed for the holidays on December 25th and January 1st.
