An investigation is underway after a man was found deceased in a camper near Flaming Gorge Reservoir. According to the Sweetwater County Sheriff’s Office, detectives are investigating this as an unattended death. The man was found alone in his camper near the Anvil Draw area of Flaming Gorge Reservoir.

An increase in scams over the holidays can be expected and Rio Blanco County Sheriff’s Office wants the public to be aware. “Using robocalls or live callers, fraudsters pretend to be government employees and claim there is identity theft or another problem with one’s Social Security number, account, or benefits,” warns the Sheriff’s Office.

The rumor mill may be impossible to control but that isn’t stopping Uintah Basin Healthcare from addressing a recent local rumor head on. If you heard or saw claims that Basin Clinic in Vernal was closed due to COVID-19 this rumor is completely untrue. “Basin Clinic staff was tested last Tuesday with all staff testing negative,” shares the Uintah Basin Healthcare announcement.

As we enter the special time of year traditionally associated with giving and thankfulness, I wanted to take a moment to recognize our team of dedicated healthcare heroes at Ashley Regional Medical Center. It is difficult to imagine a more challenging time for our community than what we have faced over the past eight months of the COVID-19 pandemic.

In many ways nursing homes have been ground zero for the COVID-19 pandemic. The Villa in Roosevelt took immediate action and have been strictly adhering to the guidelines for the resident safety. That being the case they recognize that this year, more so than any other, needs some extra holiday cheer, and they are asking the public for help.

Uintah County Attorney Greg Lamb has been appointed to fill Judge Edwin T. Peterson’s seat in Eighth District Court. Judge Peterson received his appointment in 2009 and recently announced his retirement. Once the position was open the state accepted applications and it was narrowed to four applicants of which the Governor’s Office chose Greg Lamb.

There are plenty of questions concerning the Governor’s new COVID-19 State of Emergency declaration and accompany orders. When it comes to businesses, the state’s Frequently Asked Questions page states that “businesses are expected to enforce mask requirements with their employees and to promote mask wearing to their patrons, and visibly post signage to that effect.

The Uintah School Board is unanimously making their voices heard with a letter addressed to Governor Gary Herbert explaining their opposition to suspend any extracurricular sport or activity beyond November 23rd, citing the health and safety of students.

As of October 19, 2020, the Duchesne County Commissioners have adopted a Trails Master Plan. This plan contains over 150 potential trail projects throughout the county. On November 2nd, the County Commissioners passed a resolution establishing a County Trails Committee.
