Favorable Weather Helps Direct Attack on Allen Fire

Progress is being made on the Allen Fire in Daggett County. Utah Fire Info provided an update on Wednesday evening stating that crews fighting the Allen Fire in Daggett County took advantage of more favorable weather conditions to launch a direct attack on the fire with support from two helicopters.

Update to Highway 40 Construction Near Strawberry Reservoir

Construction on Highway 40 in the Strawberry Valley has seen an installation of wildlife crossing, extension of the Strawberry River box culvert, and roadway reconstruction among other things. The Utah Department of Transportation has resumed construction on Highway 40 between Daniel Summit and milepost 46.

Search Underway for Missing Swimmer at Red Fleet Reservoir

A search is underway for a swimmer who did not resurface at Red Fleet Reservoir on Wednesday. According to Utah State Parks spokesman Eugene Swalberg, the incident happened in the mid-afternoon at Red Fleet State Park when a 33-year-old Uintah County man was on a boat with others in the wakeless area of the reservoir.

Uintah School Board Approves 2020-2021 School Year Reopening Plan

The Uintah School District Board of Education approved the 2020-2021 school year reopening plan during a public meeting Tuesday night held at the Vernal Middle School auditorium. The Board unanimously approved a motion to approve the framework of the proposed reopening plan with the intent to start the school at 100 percent capacity pending consultation with TriCounty Health in August before the school start date.

Crews continue to battle a fire reported 30 miles northeast of Vernal in Daggett County. The Allen Fire was reported on Monday evening near the Utah-Colorado state line and was originally being called the Allen Draw Fire.
