The Northern Ute July Sundance will be happening with some COVID-19 safety measures in place.The event will be July 24th, 25th, 26th and 27th at the Northern Ute Sundance Grounds east of Neola. All traffic will go through the main gate as all side gates will be blocked.

Fire Restriction Order Issued; Includes Restriction of Fireworks
A Fire Restriction Order has been issued for all unincorporated private and all state lands within Duchesne, Uintah, and Daggett Counties, effective Wednesday, July 22nd. The Fire Restriction Order states the following:
West Nile Virus Has Arrived in the Uintah Basin

TriCounty Health Department announced on Monday the first West Nile Virus positive pool of the year has come from a water body in the Thunder Ridge area, confirmed by the Ute Indian Tribe Mosquito Abatement.

Paving Underway on Highway 40 UDOT Project in Gusher
Crews are set to begin paving operations starting today on the north side of Highway 40 between Lapoint Highway and Cottonwood Road as part of the UDOT project in Gusher. “There will be several hours [Tuesday] afternoon when the paving operation will block access to driveways and side roads on the northside of US-40,” shares the UDOT update.

Wildfire conditions don’t need any extra help from community members and the Ute Indian Tribe is taking the next step and has issued a Fire Restriction Order for the Uintah and Ouray Indian Reservation.
Cottonwood Fire Contained on Ashley National Forest on Sunday
The Cottonwood Fire, reported on Saturday in the Ashley National Forest Flaming Gorge Ranger District, is now contained. According to the Ashley National Forest, the fire was contained at approximately 18 acres and the cause remains under investigation.
Allen Fire in Daggett County Transitions From Type 3 to Type 4 Organization
The Allen Fire in Daggett County has been held to 40 acres as of last report and remains at 90 percent contained. Utah Fire Info reports that command of the fire transitioned from a Type 3 to a Type 4 organization on Sunday morning.
