On July 3rd, a small group of locals stood high atop a familiar ridge in Dry Fork Canyon and carefully changed out the American flag. Ivan Merrell, Randy Merrell, and Doug Murphy are the unseen heroes behind this landmark that has proudly flown the red, white and blue for the last two decades.

Thanks to the help of many, including the young men of the Ute football team, the Freestone Legacy Walking Park in Vernal has been transformed into a patriotic field of flags. The Flags for Freedom display is a kick off to the Dinosaurland Freedom Fest with most events taking place all day in Vernal on the Fourth of July.
