In a bit of exciting news the crews working on US-40 in Gusher have completed the first round of paving this week. Travellers might have noticed that the crew has shifted the work zone to the north side of the road. The traffic will be down to one-lane with flaggers helping on Tuesday and Wednesday nights from 8pm to 5am.
Vernal Police identified the suspect in the June 3rd shooting in a press release issued Monday morning. They shared the following: “On Wednesday June 3rd, numerous law enforcement agencies assisted the Vernal Police Department in a Homicide investigation.
On the morning of June 3rd, an employee at Uintah High School reported hearing a gunshot and ricochet sound outside the high school.
While some anticipated that Governor Herbert would move the health risk level to Green, that did not happen. On June 5th, the Governor extended his COVID-19 health risk status order from May 29th through June 12th meaning all current health risk guidance for the state remains unchanged.
After some back and forth, Uintah High School graduation is on again. The Uintah High drive through graduation celebration was deemed a massive success last month and as a result Uintah High School administration decided to conduct a poll of the seniors.
Black bears live and roam throughout much of the state, including areas of the Uintah Basin, and the Division of Wildlife Resources is offering their tips for staying safe while recreating in bear country.
Saturday’s heavy storm affected residents and businesses throughout Uintah County. Vernal City Manager Quinn Bennion shares that there were many downed trees, power outages, and flooding of store entrances on Vernal Main Street. “Several business owners placed sandbags at their Main Street entrances to minimize water damage,” explains Bennion.
The total number of confirmed cases of COVID-19 in the TriCounty area is now recorded at 21.
Storms throughout the weekend resulted in downed trees, damaged property, some flooding, and power outages, especially in Uintah County.
