It's been an exciting few days for a local young fisherman. 10-year-old Tyler Grimshaw of Vernal has made headlines all over the country the last few days since he reeled in a 41-pound lake trout while fishing Flaming Gorge with his dad.

Duchesne County voters have been asked to DISCARD the ballots for the June 30th Primary Election they received in the mail over the last week. Clerk/Auditor JoAnn Evans made the announcement on June 11th.
Fire Crews Quickly Extinguish Blaze at Dan’s Tire Service in Naples
Naples Fire Department had a busy day on Saturday. Naples Fire Chief Brett Reynolds shares that at approximately 11:50am on Saturday, June 13th, a page was received to a structure fire at Dan’s Tire Service in Naples.
Derailed Train Cars Result in Massive Explosion and Fire in Rock Springs
A train derailment just outside Rock Springs on Saturday, that resulted in a massive explosion and fire, is under investigation by the Federal Railroad Administration. According to SweetwaterNOW.com, 26 train cars derailed just before 3pm and of those 26 cars, 10 were destroyed as they were carrying ethanol and alcohol which resulted in a massive explosion.
BIA Ft. Duchesne Police Alert Public of Man Wanted for Violence Against Women
The BIA Ft. Duchesne Police Department has alerted the public of a man wanted for violence against women. 25-year-old Keenan James Imus Lee Taveapont is described as 5 foot 9 inches tall, 180 pounds, with black hair and brown eyes.
5 New Cases of COVID-19 in Uintah County; Governor on Move to Green
The Situational Update page on www.tricountyhealth.com is reporting 5 new cases of COVID-19 in Uintah County, a jump that was anticipated due to likely spread within the home of a confirmed case over the weekend. The update shows an overall total of 17 confirmed cases in Uintah County with 9 Recovered.
Roosevelt City Kicking Off Summer with July 4th Celebration
It might have felt like everything has been postponed or cancelled when it comes to activities in the community but the Basin can look forward to a real kick-off to the summer this July 4th. Roosevelt City will be have their Fourth of July Celebration at Constitution Park.

When it comes to offering activities to cure summer boredom, Uintah County Library is leading the way. The library has several things to put on your calendar. On Tuesdays, from 10am to 2pm they will be having Summer Reading Activities.
New Vernal Chamber Sign Implements Design of New Wayfinding System
Always looking to improve the community, the Vernal Area Chamber has updated one of their signs to match the new wayfinding system being implemented. The new sign is on the Grand Valley Bank billboard just past Lowe’s on Highway 40.
