Small businesses throughout the community make countless donations throughout the year for local worthy causes and the Rotary Club of Vernal feels it's time to turn the tables and help these businesses at this difficult time in the local economy. Using their own funds, the Rotary Club is purchasing $8,000 dollars in gift certificates from local businesses that will be the prizes in an 8 week contest to encourage the community to shop local.

The Uintah County Sheriff’s Office is warning the community of a phone scam that has recently had multiple reports. “Several people have reported receiving phone calls from an individual who says he works for our agency,” shares the Sheriff’s Office. “He identifies himself as Sgt. Jason Glass.

As of the state’s April 6th report, the total case count in the state of Utah is 1,675 with 138 of those being hospitalized and resulting in 13 deaths in the state.
Reports of Copper Wire Stolen From Oilfield Locations
Uintah County Sheriff’s Office is asking residents to be on the lookout as there has been a recent uptick in reports of copper wire being stolen from oilfield locations in Uintah County. “Stealing copper wire from these locations is not only illegal, it's dangerous,” shares the Sheriff’s Office.
New Case of COVID-19 in Uintah County
TriCounty Health Department announced Monday afternoon that there is a new case of COVID-19 in Uintah County, bringing the total number of cases in the TriCounty Health District to 3.

Uintah Basin Healthcare has implemented a tent triage system for all members of the public who access their Roosevelt campus. All who are coming to the facility will need to enter at 200 North 300 West and proceed to the tent located in the parking lot across from the ER. You will be asked “What brings you here today?” If you are going to the Drive-Up pharmacy, you will proceed to your intended destination.

Residents of the Uintah Basin are being urged to complete the 2020 Census which only takes a few minutes to do online. The Census is conducted every ten years by mandate of the United States Constitution and is a crucial tool used by demographers, historians, and is used to allocate funding.
Warns of Scammers Taking Advantage of COVID-19 Pandemic
The FBI is warning that scammers are taking advantage of the COVID-19 pandemic. Specifically, the FBI is warning the healthcare industry of increased fraudulent activity with COVID-19 related medical equipment. “Based on the current stress on the supply chain, scammers may promise equipment they do not have access to in order to capitalize on the medical community’s urgent needs,” shares the FBI.
Spring Break Officially Arrives for Local School Districts
While students have already had a few weeks at home, hopefully the official arrival of spring break will provide local youth with something to smile about. Uintah School District Superintendent Rick Woodford provided a District update last week reminding all in the District that Spring Break officially begins on Monday, April 6th, and school will not resume again in Uintah School District until Tuesday, April 14th.
Walmart Limiting Number of Customers in the Store
The Executive Vice President and CEO of Walmart U.S., Dacona Smith, announced on Friday that Walmart will be limiting the number of customers allowed in the store at a time.
