Fatal Crash on Highway 40 Near Myton Wednesday Morning

A head on collision resulted in one death near Myton on Wednesday morning. According to Utah Highway Patrol, a Honda Civic was traveling westbound on Highway 40 at Mile Marker 100 as a semi tractor pulling a tanker and pup was traveling eastbound at the same location. “The Civic suddenly swerved in front of the tractor-trailer and a head-on collision was a result,” shares Highway Patrol.

The second year of the Hotel Vernal Haunt had a fantastic turnout and while the total dollar amount raised for charities is still being calculated, the attendance numbers speak for themselves. The Haunt had 6,167 visitors over the 11 days it was open. “We had such an outpouring of support from the community, from volunteers, sponsors, and people coming to participate by going through it,” shares Vernal Chamber Director Joel Brown.

Over 20 Dogs Recovered from Unoccupied Roosevelt Home and Property

The Roosevelt Animal Shelter had an influx of dogs recently after an unoccupied home was discovered to have over 20 unattended dogs in the home and surrounding property. “Neighbors reported that a vacant home at 488 East 650 North appeared to have several dogs unattended inside,” shares Roosevelt Police Chief Rick Harrison. “Officers investigated and found several dogs had gotten out of the house and were loose on the property.

Old Fort Community Fishing Ponds Closed For Winter Season

The Old Fort community fishing ponds are officially closed to the public. “They capped over with layers of ice and are currently unsafe for the public,” shares DWR Conservation Outreach Manager Tonya Kieffer-Selby. The fishing ponds have been a popular stop since their opening. The DWR and local law enforcement used the location to host their very first ‘Badges & Bobbers’ event last June where local officers fished with local special needs adults and children. The ponds will reopen again in the spring of 2020 when the ice has thawed and is again safe.

Uintah County Replacement of the White River Bridge To Begin this Month

Uintah County has announced that demolition of the existing White River Bridge on Seep Ridge Road is scheduled for this month. The work will begin November 18th and construction of a new bridge is expected to be complete by March 23rd, 2020. “During the demolition and construction, a detour route will be in place from Chapita Grove Road to Glen Bench Road to Seep Ridge Road,” shares Uintah County. “The detour route will have signs posted.

2019 Election Preliminary Results for Roosevelt City Council

The preliminary results for the 2019 election are in. The Roosevelt City Council preliminary results show that there were 860 total ballots counted with Don Busenbark receiving 484 votes, Cody Aland receiving 445 votes, Vince Reiley receiving 393 votes, Aaron Weight receiving 377 votes, Rebecca Pittman receiving 367 votes, and Joe Burdick receiving 311 votes. “Please note that these numbers will not be finalized until the canvas at Roosevelt City Council meeting on Tuesday, November 19th,” explains Roosevelt Deputy Recorder LeeNichole Marett. “Some mail-in ballots will likely continue to arrive over the next few days, and some numbers may change slightly. Final results will be released after the canvas, but we do expect that the final numbers will match this preliminary count relatively closely.”
