A young angler enjoyed more than just a good day of fishing in the High Uintas recently. 13-year-old Isaac Vance of Vernal accepted an invitation to go fishing up at Marsh Lake with his Grandpa and Uncle.

Prop 4 Town Hall Panel to Include Police Chief, Sheriff, and UEA Director of Policy
Proposition 4 is a hot topic in Uintah County and an event tonight will feature the perspective of local law enforcement among the discussion. The Uintah County Education Association is hosting tonight’s town hall meeting where a panel will be available for questions and a presentation on school finance will be made by Jay Blain, the Director of Policy and Research for the Utah Education Association.

Information Sought on Two Poaching Cases Near Vernal
Division of Wildlife Resources conservation officers are seeking information on two poaching incidents that took place last month in the Vernal area. According to the DWR, the first incident was a small mule deer fawn that was shot and left on the side of the road near Dry Fork. The second incident was a pronghorn buck that was shot in the neck near Fiddler Road.
Release Bluegills Caught at Steinaker Reservoir and Pelican Lake
The Utah Division of Wildlife Resources has made an emergency change to the 2019 Utah Fishing Guidebook that has to do with two local bodies of water. The new changes stated on October 14th, 2019 that if any anglers catch bluegills at Steinaker Reservoir or at Pelican Lake they must release them back into the water.
Prescribed Burn Continues in Duchesne Ranger District East of Reservation Ridge
The prescribed burn in Duchesne Ranger District continues on Fossil Ridge in the “Reservation Ridge East Sagebrush project” area. Ashley National Forest shared on Friday that fire crews began the project on October 12th and have burned 1100 of the 1400 acres so far.

Craig Councilman Arrested on Child Sex Charges During Internet Predator Sting
One of the new members of the Craig City Council is facing felony charges after being arrested during an undercover predator sting operation in Jefferson County, Colorado. According to the Arrest Affidavit, 48-year-old Brian Paul Mackenzie was arrested on October 11th for the crimes of Internet Luring of a Child, Internet Sexual Exploitation of a Child, and Criminal Attempt Sexual Assault on a Child. The day before, an undercover officer posted a picture on a social media site posing as an underage female named “Kylie”.
Vernal Police Ask for Public’s Help in Identifying Vehicle
The Vernal City Police Department is asking for help from area residents in identifying the owner of late model GMC/Chevrolet. There was a Vandalism detail that happened at the Uintah County Museum at about 4:08am on October 5th.
Vernal City Surplus Property Auction
Vernal City has announced that the city is auctioning their surplus property. Just a few of the items being placed up for auction include a 12 Volt water pump, a band saw, cement vibrator, and couple swap cooler.
