Crossing Guard Hit by 16-Year-Old Driver Near Kings Peak Elementary
A school crossing guard was hit by a teenage driver near Kings Peak Elementary in Roosevelt on Thursday morning. According to a press release from the Roosevelt City Police, a 1997 Mazda sedan driven by a 16-year-old driver failed to yield to the school crossing guard at 300 West 200 North at about 7:50 a.m. on September 12th.

Missing Kayaker Found Safe in Upper Area of Flaming Gorge
It was a positive outcome for a missing kayaker that failed to meet his party at their rendezvous point on Saturday afternoon at Flaming Gorge’s Firehole Campground. According to the Sweetwater County Sheriff’s Office, deputies responded to the upper area of Flaming Gorge Reservoir on Saturday evening around 8:30pm.

Ashley National Forest Plans to Prepare an Environmental Impact Statement
According to the Federal Register the Forest Service is looking to revise the Land Management Plan (Forest Plan) for the Ashley National Forest and are wanting to prepare an environmental impact statement. The reason for the revision, according to the National Forest Management Act, is that forest plan should be revised on a 10 to 15-year cycle and the current one is 30 years old and has been amended 24 times.
TriCounty Health Update on Area’s Harmful Algal Blooms
What’s the status on Harmful Algal Blooms in northeastern Utah? TriCounty Health Department provided the following update on Tuesday: The bloom at Starvation Reservoir appears to be dispersing and is no longer concentrated at the main boat ramp. It has not affected the drinking water coming from the treatment plant.
