The Utah Rocky Mountain Elk Foundation- Uintah Basin Chapter is holding their Big Game Banquet this weekend. For those that aren’t familiar, the foundation works to “ensure the future of elk, other wildlife and their habitat and our Hunting Heritage. In support of our mission,” shares the Foundation, “the RMEF is committed to: conserving, restoring and enhancing natural habitats; promoting the sound management of wild elk, which may be hunted or otherwise enjoyed; restoring elk to their native ranges, and educating members and the public about habitat conservation and our hunting heritage.”

Terra Academy Boys Basketball Head to State in First Year With a Team

A local high school is making a run for a state championship in their very first year of play. The Terra Academy Boys Basketball team finished their season with 11 wins and just one loss, ranking them first in their division and sending them on a quest for the 2019 USSA state basketball championship for smaller schools in the state of Utah. The Terra Tigers hosted the East Hollywood High Manbears out of West Valley on Wednesday.

The Uintah Basin Orchestra and Chorus are performing tomorrow in concert, ‘The Melody Lingers On’ featuring the music of Mozart to Berlin. The concert is certain to be an emotional one for many of the performers past and present as it will be the last concert that Dr. James Bankhead and his wife Lyn will participate in while serving as the organization’s Artistic Director and Master Conductor for the choir.

New Superintendent Announced for Dinosaur National Monument

The National Park Service has announced a new superintendent for Dinosaur National Monument. Starting March 31st, Paul Scolari will serve as the Superintendent of the Monument in Colorado and Utah and will also supervise the Superintendent of Fossil Butte National Monument in Wyoming. Scolari has worked for the National Park Service for over 24 years and is currently the Chief of Resource Management and Planning over a group of national parks in California.
