Massive Smoke Plume from Tank Fires in Bluebell

A massive plume of smoke in Bluebell could be seen for miles and miles on Tuesday. According the the Duchesne County Sheriff’s Office, the smoke came from a large fire burning at an RNI facility on Bluebell Highway northwest of Roosevelt. Originally it was reported that three storage tanks were burning; two of condensate and one of crude oil.

Uintah School District Hosts Valuable and Sombering Active Shooter Training

Valuable and sombering training took place Monday at Uintah High School as active shooter scenarios were performed.  According to a Uintah School District announcement, the exercises were designed to teach law enforcement officers, EMS personnel, firefighters, and district employees how to respond to an active shooter situation.

Roosevelt Road Construction All About Prolonging Life of Roads

Crews are wrapping up on the road construction on Roosevelt City State Street south of Highway 40. The Roosevelt Bulletin explains that an ongoing project in the area has improved storm drainage, widened the road, and added sidewalks for heavy pedestrian traffic to and from Centennial Elementary School.

Thanks to an anonymous donor, the Bureau of Land Management Vernal Field Office is offering a reward of $2,000 dollars for information leading to the conviction of individuals who spray painted rocks in the canyon at the Flume Trailhead.

Counties and TriCounty Health File Joint Lawsuit Against Opioid Manufacturers

Uintah, Duchesne, and Daggett County have joined with TriCounty Health Department in filing a joint lawsuit against “Big Pharma” opioid manufacturers and distributors. According to the June 7th press release, the 243-page Complaint states that the opioid crisis was created by misinformation, false claims, and marketing generated by the manufacturers and distributors of drugs.

Duchesne County Sheriff’s Office Recognizes Deputy for Saving Man’s Life

The Duchesne County Sheriff’s Office is recognizing a Deputy who saved a man’s life last week. Over the weekend, Deputy Derrick Kearney was dispatched to a call of a man who was unconscious and stopped breathing just as Deputy Kearney arrived. Kearney administered NARCAN and performed CPR on the man until an ambulance arrived.
