Steinaker Fish Derby Puts Good Dent in Effort to Salvage Bluegill
A tournament earlier this month helped in the effort to salvage bluegill before Steinaker Reservoir is drained for repairs. According to DWR Conservation Outreach Manager Tonya Kieffer, there were 110 tournament participants.
Uintah County Library Hosts Traveling Teen Memoriam Display
The Uintah County Library is remembering 120 teens that have been lost on Utah roads, including one of the Basin’s own. The state’s Zero Fatalities Campaign includes a Teen Memoriam of youth who have lost their lives on Utah Roads as a way to put faces and feeling behind the statistics of lives lost.

Most Uintah County voters now have ballots in hand with time to vote by mail or in person. Clerk Auditor Mike Wilkins has several things he wants the public to know. “If you did not receive your ballot in the mail, please come into the County Clerk’s office,” shares Wilkins.
Use of Counterfeit Bills On The Rise Warns Roosevelt City Police
Keep an eye out for fake bills as their use is on the rise in the Uintah Basin. According to Roosevelt City Police Chief Rick Harrison, Roosevelt Police have seen a noticeable increase in counterfeit currency.
Uintah County Certified Tax Rate Tabled Until Wednesday
With a feeling of Déjà vu, Uintah County Commissioners grappled again with the adoption of the State recommended Certified Tax Rate. If adopted, the 2018 Certified Tax Rate would increase property taxes by approximately $11 dollars per $100,000 dollars in home value with the county receiving an additional $749,000 dollars in order to provide the county with the same revenue totals as 2017.
High School Softball and Baseball Athletes Named to All-State Teams
