The Roosevelt Police Department is actively investigating a sexting case that involves a group of Union High School students. According to a Roosevelt City press release, the case was first brought to the attention of law enforcement officers in May and officers are now waiting for the evaluation of evidence from the state crime lab to be complete.

Vernal and beyond was bustling over the weekend as events drew visitors from outside the area, filling up hotels and restaurants. The 7th Annual Basin Bash Baseball Tournament hosted 46 teams from Utah, Colorado, and Wyoming with the Uintah 13U team winning the championship in the gold bracket.
Flights Resume and Construction Wrapping Up at Vernal Regional Airport
It’s quite literally onward and upward at the Vernal Regional Airport after several days without flights last week. According to airport manager Doug Brown, the seal coat and permanent paint coat is complete and the runway is now operational.
3rd Annual Outlaw ATV Jamboree Draws Crowd to Enjoy Basin Trail Rides
The 3rd annual Outlaw ATV Jamboree was an undeniable success with 300 participants and their fancy rides out and about. The fun started on Thursday with trail rides throughout the day. The ATV rodeo was held Friday at the Western Park. Saturday was another day full of rides with the event wrapping up with the Ride by the Lights Night Ride that paraded down Main Street before traversing Asphalt Ridge.
State Fighting Opioid Crisis Affecting Uintah Basin and Beyond
Local officials have made it clear that the Uintah Basin is affected by the opioid crisis just like other counties in the state. In response, the state of Utah has announced a major lawsuit against the opioid manufacturer Purdue Pharma. Attorney General Sean Reyes made the announcement last week saying that the company violated state law in their prescription of opioids, including OxyContin.
Road Work to Close Portion of Red Cloud Loop This Week
Road work beginning today will close down a portion of Red Cloud Loop in Uintah County. According to the Forest Service announcement, the Ashley National Forest and Uintah County will be working together on resurfacing the Red Cloud Loop Road from the Dry Fork Flume Trailhead as well as the turn off to Massey Meadows to the Charlies Park turnoff.
Third Inmate Joins ACLU Lawsuit Over Daggett County Jail Abuse
A third inmate has joined an ACLU lawsuit over the Daggett County Jail abuse. The American Civil Liberties Union of Utah announced last month the lawsuit filed on behalf of Dustin Porter and Steven Drollette, two former Daggett County Jail inmates.

The Miss Uintah County pageant was a night to remember on Saturday. Savannah Hartle was crowned Miss Uintah County 2018 and Kenadi Colton was crowned Miss Outstanding Teen Uintah County 2018.
